What is the Saturday Club?

The Saturday Club is open to all, “membership” is simply month by month. This is a social event of like-minded people wanting a platform for gaining photography experience and the opportunity to display their work in a relaxed gallery exhibition setting. A forthcoming publication will also enable Saturday Club attendees to have their work printed.

The Saturday Club consists of an assignment meet-up day followed a few weeks later by an exhibition viewing night.

FAQs

Do I have to bring my own camera and does it have to be digital?

You will need a camera, but no, it doesn’t have to be digital. A lot of people bring film cameras, even ‘toy cameras’. Some even use disposable cameras...

How much do I need to know about photography before I join?

Not much, but a bunch of enthusiasm is a good thing!

How many people participate each month?

At present group size is unlimited. Depending on holidays, etc. we can see anywhere between 2-20 people.

Do I need to get my own prints printed for the exhibition?

What if I can’t make the exhibition night? Can I still see the exhibition?

Yes, all are welcome.

What happens to my photograph(s) after the exhibition?

You get them back to keep.

THE SATURDAY CLUB

This year we have a range of ideas and some new cities as well as project subjects in our sights.

For March our destination is an easy Eurostar ride away, to Paris.

We will meet on Saturday 10 March, 11am, in Paris!

Exact location in Paris to be confirmed.

You will be given a brief which will include a photography project discussion, with a gallery or city viewing, and there will certainly be coffee and patisseries involved.

We meet up later in the day once people have had a chance to get some shots, so we can share stories, trials and tribulations with cameras and the setting and to trouble-shoot for solo photography over the remainder of the weekend or however long you decide to stay for.

Meet new friends, in a new location - most of us seem to be ore inspired to photograph when we are away from home.

Everyone organises their own travel arrangements, and we meet you there on the day.

So grab a flight and hotel deal if you can - the early bird catches the worm.

Some examples of last year’s work...shot in the style of the black and white masters of the moment, which was the brief for the 2011 Paris trip.

The resulting work will be exhibited in an exhibition, as per our usual Saturday Club format, but with a twist.... Please see our Facebook page and blog archive for images of past shows.
